I should have put a caption on it, most people probably wouldn’t know what it is. It’s one of the 1328 monuments at Gettysburg. The view is of the massive battlefield there. Gettysburg was a turning point in the American Civil War. It was a three day bloody battle with approximately 50,000 dead, wounded or missing. It was so violent and so deadly that they realized immediately that they needed to preserve the area as a massive memorial. It’s a very sobering but beautiful place. It’s where Lincoln gave one of his most important speeches “The Gettysburg Address”.

Thanks. I’ve learnt something today! I have heard of the Gettysburg Address but never realised the significance of the place.
