    1. I should have put a caption on it, most people probably wouldn’t know what it is. It’s one of the 1328 monuments at Gettysburg. The view is of the massive battlefield there. Gettysburg was a turning point in the American Civil War. It was a three day bloody battle with approximately 50,000 dead, wounded or missing. It was so violent and so deadly that they realized immediately that they needed to preserve the area as a massive memorial. It’s a very sobering but beautiful place. It’s where Lincoln gave one of his most important speeches “The Gettysburg Address”.

      1. Thanks. I’ve learnt something today! I have heard of the Gettysburg Address but never realised the significance of the place.

        Here in the UK we have also just had our Independence Day, 23 June when we voted to leave the European Union.
